Tips: Record a Video Response

A Recording a Video Response

We’re offering the option to record video responses to key questions on the THINK and EXPLORE grant applications. Below are some requirements and best practices.

Video Responses should be no longer than 3 minutes.

Recording Video

Because we use Google Forms for the application, you’ll have to record a video file and upload it for each answer. We’re not looking for "edited" videos. Video Responses are intended for applicants who prefer speaking to writing.

On a Smart Phone (recommended)

  1. Navigate to your AWF application (Google Form)
  2. Select the "“"Add file" option
  3. Under the Upload tab, select "Select files from your device"
  4. Select "Take Photo or Video" (this will launch your camera)
  5. Place your camera in "selfie" mode
  6. Select "Video"
  7. When finished recording, select "Use Video"
  8. Select "Upload" in the Google Form

On a Computer (with a webcam)

On MacOS

You can record your webcam via the Quicktime Player application that comes default on MacOS. You can find it in your Applications Folder.

  1. Open QuickTime Player
  2. Select File > New Movie Recording
  3. Press the button with the red dot to record
  4. When finished press the button again (it should change from a red dot to a square while recording)
  5. Save your movie on your computer
  6. In the AWF application, Select "Add file" under the question you’d like. Under the Upload tab, select files from your device and navigate to the video file on your Computer.

  5. To locate the file, click the ellipsis (…) in the upper right-hand corner of the window and select Open Folder. (By default, videos are saved on your hard drive in "Pictures/Camera Roll"
